Are you a technically proficient pension’s professional keen to either work for an in-house pension department or if you already are, work for a larger one in a more senior role with more scope and variety in your role? If yes your new role as a Senior Technical Consultant offers all this and more…. Across the whole pension's team, our client has incredibly ambitious, exciting and innovative plans and they are looking for experienced Pension's professionals to join the team to help them achieve these.

Our client only requires you on site two days per week (but of course you can go in more if you wish), the days you work in the office are optional, and can be agreed within the team, but there are no set compulsory days to go in to the office.

Working within the Technical Consulting Team you will be working on a range of technical projects delivering a high-quality service to all project stakeholders, you will work closely with members of the Strategy & Change Team to deliver the requirements for projects. In addition, you will provide technical expertise to the Member Services Team on complex pension matters. The technical team is highly collaborative with other teams in this 50+ pension dept., it could even be called the glue of the departments, there is so much interaction outside just their own technical team, so you need to be able to communicate complex ideas succinctly and accurately, to a broad range of people with varying degrees of pension's knowledge, in a professional and timely manner.

You will have responsibility for drafting and maintaining a benefit specification for the UK pension arrangements, responsibility for identifying and interpreting relevant pension technical information and changes in pension-related legislation for use by the Company and Trustees and support governance of all the company UK pension arrangements in compliance with statutory time frames and best practice. You will provide technical pension's support when required to HR, Payroll, Legal and other business functions and to the Trustees of all UK pension arrangements across the company to maintain compliance with legislation.

Project management skills and organisational skills will help you in this role, so alongside being a technical specialist you will be so much more, as is the role, where you will give technical input to all relevant projects managed by the Strategy & Change Team, and work with the Strategy & Change Team and external service providers to review calculation and workflow specifications, also helping conduct and support user acceptance testing as required and review testing evidence for calculation changes and data structure changes.

To undertake this role you may have a host of different experience, our client does not expect you to have quite everything, but if we outline what skills will help you be successful in this role you can tick them off and see if what you don’t know you are happy to learn and if you feel this exciting technical role is right for you. For starters you will need a comprehensive knowledge and understanding of the legislation, regulation and taxation surrounding DB and DC pensions in the UK and be able to provide evidence in applying this in a practical manner. A practical understanding of Trust-based DC and DB pension arrangements and the ability to navigate and understand Trust Deed and Rules and other scheme documentation.
