Imagine working for the number one in their field in Europe, and number three in the world! Now let's make that dream come true, as the new Associate Director of Pensions and Benefits, for an in-house pension department, with outsourced schemes. This is a standalone role servicing all aspects of pension's provision.

The purpose of your new role will be to protect your employer through effective management of all matters relating to Pensions and the relevant compliance and governance matters and connect people to the value these pensions provide as a key part of their package through clear communication and engagement. You will be a source of expertise to senior management; promote and inform staff on pension matters; build effective relationships with all pension providers (2 external); liaise internally and externally to ensure good governance of each scheme; and manage the Group Life Assurance Scheme.

From a Pensions perspective, your new employer provides pension benefits through three pension schemes, dependent on an individual’s role. The reporting line is to two people, one dotted. Close, collaborative working relationships with the representatives of the Finance team are also essential, to administer and manage the requirements of each scheme.

You will have hopefully already undertaken a similar type of role, or be very confident you can step into this role jogging if not running. It is vital you are used to working with high earners, and to do role well you will really need to understand and be familiar with tax implications for high earners. This is a niche role, which hopefully makes it exciting in the world of pensions. It is a standalone role, with no pensions support, but of course other areas of the business to liaise and work with in collaboration, but you will need to be strong minded and self-motivated. You need to have a flexible style, to deal with such a diverse work force, from administration to very high earners.
