You will be joining as the result of a retirement and re-restructure within this small in-house pension department. This means you will be taking on a new role, but with some of the duties of the retiree and other parties/needs within the department. Your main job purpose will be to assist in the provision of a pension's administration service to the Trustees and members of this large company, recently purchased by a well-known brand name. You will need a solid basic grounding in occupational pensions as the foundation to taking on this role, and understanding what is required.
The DC scheme administration is outsourced, whilst the closed DB scheme administration remains in-house, and will form a large part of your role, requiring you to undertake various pension calculations, and arrange payment of benefits (the pensioner payroll is outsourced). You will also assist in reconciliation of pension contributions.
Your communication skills will enable you to liaise confidently with external service providers, and we hope you are passionate about pensions and compassionate when it comes to people, as you will also deal with employees within the company concerning their pension.
Our client is a strong advocate of ongoing training (if the employee desires this), and will encourage and sponsor study, send you on pension's related courses, and when they can, allow you to get involved in project work, to help improve your experience and skills base. This is a small team, therefore career prospects are limited until someone else moves up, but our client offers many other benefits in other forms, that may attract someone who would like flexibility in start/finish times, a happy environment, stress free pensions administration, (no client time sheets or clock watching), where job satisfaction is paramount.
