Your new role, working for an in-house pension scheme (outsourced administration) will be to support the Pensions Director in managing all aspects of the company pension schemes and related policies in the UK. This includes defined benefit and defined contribution pension schemes sponsored by the company, as well as the Company’s participation in public sector pension schemes. There are multiple schemes with a very large overall employee membership. You will have prior experience of day-to-day pension's management, scheme governance, DB and DC benefit provision, the role covers all types of UK pension schemes and so broad knowledge of UK pensions will be advantageous.

Within the team there will be cross functional duties. However, one core area that will fall under your remit is ensuring support to the company's UK Pensions Director in ensuring that all regulatory and legal requirements are met. You will provide advice and technical support to colleagues within the HR team and in other departments, as part of the wider team that delivers pensions to company employees – this includes direct communication with employees as appropriate (there is a help centre elsewhere in the UK as the first line of contact). Your strong technical and communication skills will allow you to do this.

The pension's team is small, so you will need to be an individual who is able to think for yourself and communicate well with people across the business. You will be confident in liaison with the company’s third-party administrators, scheme trustees and external advisers/providers, including management of fee budgets. Therefore, you will be able to manage purchasing processes and engagement of external services, through to payment of invoices, ensuring compliance. You will be able to deliver management reporting on pensions, including support for budgeting and Group financial reporting/audit.
