Before you start your new job if you have excess annual leave to still take, or are able to have a 1-2 week break between leaving one job and starting another, enjoy this free time and have a period of relaxation and rest before starting your new role. In your first few weeks of employment you will be expending more energy than normal, you may not feel it directly, but your focus and concentration will be much greater than an average day with your last employer, so you might be glad you re-charged your battery when you had the chance.
Keeping the weekend before you start work free gives you time to review your job description, consider the duties/responsibilities/objectives you will have and plan for these before you start.
Plan for your first day at work as you did for your interview/s; get a good night’s sleep beforehand, organise what you want to wear, plan your travel route and allow time for transport delays. Arriving with time to spare, looking smart and knowing that you are prepared will give you an extra confidence boost on your first day.
